Description:
- Purpose: It is a diagnostic surgical instrument used to explore deep body cavities, such as the common bile duct during gallbladder surgery, to detect the presence of gallstones or other obstructions.
- Design: The probe is a long, malleable (bendable) metal rod that can be easily shaped to navigate complex anatomical structures. It features a blunt, smooth, rounded tip to prevent tissue trauma and a small "eye" (hole) at the other end.
- Use in Procedures: The eye is used to pass a suture or guide wire through a duct or vessel after an obstruction has been removed, ensuring the pathway is clear.
- Material: It is manufactured from high-grade, sterilizable stainless steel.
